Rain

Some of my favorite moments of the year are when the earth thinks about raining. She hasn't quite decided what she wants to do yet, so she tests it out with just a few droplets, a small sprinkle. Not enough to inconvenience a passerby caught outside without an umbrella, but just enough to release the delightful fragrance that can only be described as fresh.

It is mysterious and beautiful. You don't know if that's all she has in store or if a storm is going to commence any moment. All you know is that the earth is beautiful and clean and you are so happy to be alive. All you want to do is run outside without your shoes and dance on the sidewalk to music you are making up in your head. And sometimes you do. And you get stares from strangers and sometimes you suddenly feel ridiculous but I've been a starer before and all we are thinking is that we wish we were doing the exact same thing.

So dance. Dance and be free and enjoy that moment while it is happening because moments like that don't happen all the time. Moments like that cannot be created and cannot be repeated within your control. Moments like that are the ones that we have to cherish because life is unpredictable and we have no idea what is going to happen tomorrow. We don't know who we are going to meet, what we are going to lose, and where we are going to be. And we don't know when the earth is going to think about raining again.
