Vocal Point Round 2!

So once again I had the incredible opportunity of seeing BYU Vocal Point perform live. Two of my friends went, and since none of us own a car we walked fourteen blocks to get to the Covey Center. But it was totally worth it.

The second the first note escapes their lips, I melt like butter on toast. These guys have the most incredible voices, and they all sing from the heart which makes for an amazing performance. I can't pick a favorite song, but their Elvis medley always makes me extremely happy, as well as their hymns. They are able to balance both fun and entertaining music with spiritual and uplifting ones so well. I mean, I love to write but I seriously am speechless when it comes to these guys. (Which is kind of embarrassing when I go through the line to get their autographs, because they are as sweet and cheerful as ever and my mind just goes blank and I simply smile and laugh while contributing nothing to the conversation.)

But MAN they are great. They start off with some fun songs like "Good Time" and "Footloose", give tribute to classics like Frankie Valli, The Isley Brothers, and Elvis, and round everything off with beautiful renditions of hymns like "Nearer My God to Thee" and "I Need Thee Every Hour". And every other song they sing is amazing as well.

But honestly my favorite parts of their performances are always when the guys talk to the audience and share stories and facts about themselves. It really shows what kind and genuine people these men are. Trevor talks about being able to help his little sister with a problem of feeling lonely at school, and when Jake talks about his wife it is pretty much the cutest thing ever. These guys don't just care about how popular they can be and how many CDs they can sell- they want to be examples of Christ wherever they go, and from what I see they are doing a wonderful job.

Adam said it really well. He explained that their real goal in Vocal Point is not to just have fun and enjoy good music, it is also to inspire people and make the world better. (Not an exact quote, but it was something along those lines.) That's what this blog is all about, so I can't thank Vocal Point enough for everything they're doing.

Seriously, I really needed this concert tonight. I have been really stressed out lately with midterms and a ridiculous amount of essays, BYUSA commitments and projects, my social life (or lack thereof) and I've been really homesick. To hear this happy, uplifting music from some really amazing men totally made my night and reminded me that there is so much good in this world. Thanks, guys.

So check them out! They have a website, a Facebook page, an Instagram account, a Twitter account, and a Youtube channel. Oh, and they have a new CD coming out April 8th which I am SO excited for.
